Jake Cronenworth Stats, Fantasy & News. April 5, 2016: 2B Jake Cronenworth assigned to Bowling Green Hot Rods from Hudson Valley Renegades. With initial MLB rosters expanding to 30, the versatile infielder appears to have a chance to break camp with the big-league club, though perhaps less so after the acquisition of Jorge Mateo from Oakland. A legitimate two-way player, Cronenworth may function as an infielder and relief pitcher for the Rays. He had speed and low walk rates. The 2015 seventh-round pick entered the season with a .285 average over his first two minor-league campaigns, including a .322 mark in 81 games at Low-A Bowling Green last season.Cronenworth hasn't played since July 16 due to a hamstring injury, but he's on the cusp of rejoining the Bulls after starting up a rehab assignment with Tampa Bay's Gulf Coast League affiliate Monday. I’ve been eyeing Cronenworth since the end of 2018 when he was an older prospect in the Rays Double-A system. This protects him from the Rule 5 draft.
