Many years ago…Using HBO guides I was able to recreate a list of most of their scheduled movies.
What with the one-two gut punches of Far North and Silent Tongue, his incompetence is overshadowed only by his pretentiousness. What a peculiar movie! Gradually, the film fills in more details about this obsessed character. It shows Phoenix at his ambitious best. watched this because river phoenix was in it. As boring as it is interesting as an odd little window into a forgotten side of the West. Though McCree marries the woman he violates, she eventually deserts him and their daughters to return to her tribe. Phoenix’s talent and memory deserve better. For Roe, who’s learned to respect, if not understand, Indian spiritualism, there is hope. Spatterings of greek tragedy lend it some rich material along with a wonderful cast - one of Sam Shepard's finest, yet forgotten, works.Richard Harris kidnaps a Native American woman from Alan Bates' travelling sideshow to replace his son River Phoenix's dead wife. Starring River Phoenix, Alan Bates, Richard Harris, Dermot Mulroney, Sheila Tousey, Jeri Arredondo, Tantoo Cardinal. The film also has its funny moments with the ramblings of Alan Bate's character Eamon McCree. Sam Shepard writes and directs this flawed but fascinating mystical Western about grief, family and ghostly revenants, strikingly shot on the Great Plains of New Mexico.Spaghetti, Euro, American, Mexican, Ostern, Asian, Comedy, Horror, Acid, Animation, Birth of Cinema, Weird, and more...Like Meek's Cutoff, Silent Tongue does not glorify the Old West. That's a paradox, because almost every scene of Silent Tongue is shot outside in never-ending plains and a blaring sun.Focusing on a man who has lost his wife and refuses to part with her remains, the film builds its plot around an attempt made by the man's father to help his son deal with grief-induced demons. Silent Tongue is a western about a disturbed young man (River Phoenix) who grows increasingly distraught over the death of his white/Amer. She trails Prescott to torment him as he brings Velada to his son.

I haven’t seen a lot with him so I don’t have much to go on, but I’ve never been so distracted by his delivery before.An ongoing list of films awaiting a Blu-ray release.Impressive cast, yet story totally sucks. With its cache of salt-of-the-earth actors, garrulously defining themselves against the endless plains, and the lean, otherworldly feel, Silent Tongue scores as … 2 /10. Don't get me wrong, Shepard is an award winning playwright and accomplished actor, but when it comes to writing AND directing an original film screenplay, you can't do a whole lot worse. But as Talbot keeps his lonely vigil – strikingly photographed by Jack Conroy – Shepard gets close to the mythical transcendence he seeks. Either Phoenix is reduced to another drug casualty for the just-say-no crowd to duck over, or he’s romanticized into pinup martyrdom – a James Dean for the ’90s.
Phoenix rewards him with a performance of almost unbearable poignancy.
Though its resolution is flimsy, and some story threads are never tied, the narrative…Got inspired by Jao Monteiro's 80s horror list and wanted a similar one for the 90s.
