At least those iMacs can be used as external monitors. THe older ones the swap was scary but easy. i plan to buy a current model Mac Mini, and use the above iMac as a monitor. You're limited with the 2gb ram and slow HDD.The hard drive is bound to be on its last legs. 0. I don't plan on spending any money on this, so hardware upgrades are out of the question (at least for now). I have an old iMac late 2009 which has a mini display port at the back. Augmenting an iMac is much harder than a Macbook Pro, but it's very possible.

OWC has a kit you can use to swap the DVD drive with a fast SSD. Any and all tips are appreciated.If you don't spend any money on it, you're making it hard on yourself.
