pronounced interference like shortwave radio noiseI would like to add that the volume selector on the XT2 is for the output, not the input. I had my blink XT2 outside & I could hear the background cicadas, crickets & frogs fine. I don’t see how they can filter out real life sounds, other than to offer the option of lowering the sensitivity to all sounds, which might lead to difficulty hearing what people are saying, if that’s a need for you.Very loud background noise of birds, cicadas, crickets & frogs, etc.
while you are talking or listening to something else in its vicinity. Later then discovered function on original tablet.Make sure you have armed it. I have to say thanks for making my mind up: for a short while, I was thinking of keeping the cameras, albeit on a reduced feature usage (i.e., audio disabled) but when you pronounced this audio interference to be “working as designed”, that just about convinced me that my money can be better used with other products that are designed better.background cicadas, crickets & frogsNow, I get to lose you, as well, SUPER USER…Hopefully, Blink tech would come up with a working fix, in time.I also have a Ring doorbell that has the same loud background of crickets, birds, etc. The problem is, there is also a pronounced interference like shortwave radio noise. At just $34.99 Mini is a great first step towards keeping your home more secure. I also have the 5 camera system and only have 2 hooked up so far. The “running man” should be blue. The Blink XT2 is made by Blink, which is owned by Amazon, and it works with Amazon Alexa. Lots of garbled noise & tones. You may need to go to a higher tier product for the features you’re looking for.First of all, you can lose the attitude. Just installed and that’s one flaw I’ve been immediately disappointed with.
When it comes to placement, the Blink XT2 is one of the most versatile cameras around. Make sure motion detection is enabled in each camera setting.Very disappointed with the product.Camera system is a piece of ■■■■ tried and tried no motion detection and if it does is a hour to late and shows a recording of nothingI had mine a couple weeks. That even at virtually zero volume threshold, the same very jarringly loud background is picked up - that’s the design?I just got a set of 4 Blink XT2 cameras and after testing them outside my house (all over), I hear the same really loud background interference of cicadas, crickets, birds, frogs, etc., although, no radio noise. The motion isn’t working the way I’d like it too. There is no way to distinguish real background sounds from voices. Second, if you read carefully, the other posts are referring to background (electrical) noise not actual background sounds. I called yesterday and they reset it but it’s not picking up on various motions like the mail person, someone parking in front of the house, me walking pass the camera. Hope that helped.2.) I like the system overall but the whole point of me getting a security camera (keyword security) is so I can see what’s going on.Of choice 1 or 2, which one did you choose and what where the results?I found the initial app on new Samsung tablet did NOT contain the arm/disarm function or display the running man. As with Blink XT2, there is no way to soften or eliminate this audio defect. The microphones pick up all sound. If it’s grayed out, it’s turned offExtremely disappointed in this paid 150 dollars for 2 cameras and it’s pointless to even have if it won’t show who’s at the doorThe picture quality when I take a picture is fine they just don’t detect ANY motion so are Utterly useless as a security camera.Ausitn, Thanks yes had all those settings checked. View, listen, and talk right from the Blink app on your smartphone and get alerts whenever motion is detected. When sitting in the quiet, inside, listening to a recording, it becomes immediately obvious just how ever present and loud it is.Welcome to the forums!
Please refresh the page and try again. They were actually excessively loud. That’s what the real world sounds like. I still have 2 weeks left before I can return the cameras… Unfortunately, I am stuck with the Ring doorbell for now!Same here. One of my cameras was not showing motion and I realized my “armed cameras” was not turned on.
It is not on every clip or live view, but more often than not. To make sure your Blink XT2 security camera is protected from these threats, make sure its firmware is updated to version 2.13.11. The picture quality when I take a picture is fine they just don’t detect ANY motion so are Utterly useless as a security camera. That having been said, if it irritates you, isn’t there a microphone sensitivity setting for the XT2? The weather-resistant Blink XT2 is powered by two AA lithium batteries that last up to two years* which means no messy wires and no technician required!
