Las Lajas is an  easy day trip from David or Boquete.La Barqueta is the closest beach to David, Panama with easy beach access coupled with nice amenities. Its famous canal very much put Panama on the map. It would also be an AWESOME outing for a group of friends, and especially for a wedding party, like the group that I was with. The mainland at Boca Chica has some great boutique hotels like Seagull Cove Lodge and the large island Boca Brava just off the coast has noteworthy hotels as well such as Cala Mia.In western Panama there is a province bordering Costa Rica blessed with Panama’s highest mountains, longest rivers, most picturesque mountain towns, untouched Pacific island beaches, nascent seaside resorts, and large protected rainforests.

Las Olas Beach Resort features private beach terraces, panoramic views of Playa La Barqueta 9 miles (14 Km) (Panama's longest beach), farm to table cuisine, fresh tropical drinks, & unforgettable experiences for the entire family. I opted out as I’m not a great swimmer, and the waves got pretty high. I don't mean to turn you away from going to Boca Brava. You can also see dolphins through the crystal clear waters and doing acrobatic jumps. There are many other hidden gems in Panama and more importantly, the are more easy to access than Kuna Yala, or the Chiriqui Gulf.

If you are feeling more adventurous, journey to Coiba, the massive island, former penal colony and now a nature preserve.Chiriqui’s appeal includes a massive 36,000 acre marine park along with extraordinary beaches on both the mainland and islands.

They throw very bad stuff at you, and their aim is pretty good. David, Panama’s third largest city right on the Pan American highway is a focal point of Chiriqui providing the usual conveniences found in an up and coming medium size city. Las Lajas – This beach is in Chiriqui Province on the far western side of Panama about 1 hour to David, the second largest city in Panama. Panama, a country of just four million inhabitants, is the link between North and South America. The ride only took about 2 hours, but stepping out of the van onto the dock was like stepping into an alternate universe.Agreed! The Chiriqui Gulf beach was unique because it was so isolated, empty, and secluded – it truly felt like being a Castaway or a Survivor.
